Accomplishments
- Created the San Diego River Coalition which now numbers 70+ organizations
- Helped write and pass the legislation to form the State of California's San Diego River Conservancy
- Successfully created the 516 acre Eagle Peak Preserve
- In 2007, surpassed organizing and leading 10,000 volunteer hours of service
- Published Nico The Gnatcatcher and the Upside Down River which was researched, written, and illustrated by students from High Tech Middle School
- Led the effort to create a San Diego River Watershed Management Plan
- Project Manager for the San Diego River Park Conceptual Plan which is the guiding vision for the River Park
- Successfully received oversight responsibilities from the Point Loma Garden Club for the Point Loma Native Plant Garden
- In 2010 hosted the 7th annual San Diego River Days.which was created by the River Park Foundation in partnership with many organizations, sponsors, and public agencies to celebrate the River
- Created the RiverWatch program which monitors the health of the River on a monthly basis
- Removal of over 1,300,000 lbs. of trash and debris from the river and surrounding habitat with thousands of volunteers over 5 years
- Created the San Diego River Garden in Mission Valley
- In 2010 reached 20,000 hours of volunteers service annually. A value of nearly $500,000 to the community.
- 1091 acres conserved (directly or with partners) for watershed, ecosystem and public value.
- Manage 5 community groups (Friends of Eagle Peak Preserve, Friends of Santee's River Park, Friends of the River Garden, Friends of the River Mouth, Friends of the Point Loma Garden).
