HIGHLIGHTS:
Through a series of community meetings and the dedicated work of a stakeholder committee, we have completed the Concept Plan for the project. The concept is for a 7000 - 8000 square foot facility along the banks of the San Diego River surrounded by a community and nature-based park. the total project size is 17 acres. The project is located on the San Diego River at Qualcomm Way.
The facility will include a research center, classrooms, educational displays, community meeting and event space and much more. 3 public art projects are included as well as a proposed 100+ seat outdoor venue, green event space, nature trails and much more.
As soon as the current fundraising is completed a design team will be selected to usher the design of the project through to construction. Once the final design is completed, the total construction cost will be announced and fundraising will be initiated. It is anticipated that $4.5 million will be needed to complete construction. Additionally, a $2.5 million operating reserve fund will be established. if you are interested in learning more about the project, please call the San Diego River Park Foundation at 619-297-7380. Presentations are also available to interested groups.
