VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Office Volunteer - 9AM - 11AM, 11AM - 1PM, 1PM -3PM shifts available. Office greeter, answer phones and other administrative duties. Monday - Friday. (volunteer for one or more shifts per week). Contact us for more info.
Marketing - We are seeking people interested in helping with our marketing and public relations. If you have skills in graphic design, messaging, or communications and have some time to spare, we would like to hear from you. This can be an ongoing or project basis.
River Rescue Team - Hate Trash? Volunteers are needed to help remove smaller trash and debris sites from the river habitat. This group gets together on Wednesdays. Supplies provided.
Outreach - Help inform the public about the San Diego River and future River Park. We attend weekday and weekend events, festivals. Training provided.
Video Editor - We are seeking a volunteer who would like to help produce short 1 - 3 minute web videos.

INTERNSHIPS


Unpaid internships are available across many of our programs. Interns are asked to work a minimum of 10 hours per week, 3 month commitment is requested. These opportunities are a mix of office and field work. School credit available if offered by your learning institution.
River Park Foundation internships are fun, rewarding and great resume builders.

Healthy River, Healthy Communities Field Operations Intern - Perfect opportunity for those with a background or interest in environmental field work. Duties include, data collection and processing, site visits and logistics as well as volunteer leadership and field assessments.
Park Management Intern- Assist with operations, functions and events at our public gardens. A great opportunity for those interested in botany or park management and community organizing.
Habitat Restoration Intern - Assist the Restoration Program Coordinator with community based riparian and woodland habitat restoration projects. Includes monitoring, invasive, nonnative plant and tree removal. Works with the public to perform restoration activities.
RiverWatch Intern - RiverWatch is our program to monitor and document the health of the river and testing site conditions. The RiverWatch intern will accompany and eventually lead a RiverWatch team and process the collected data and maintain the RiverWatch and RiverBlitz equipment.
Coastal Habitat Restoration Intern - Assist the Program Manager with an ongoing community restoration and maintenance project in one of California’s last remaining costal dune and wetland habitats.
Outreach Intern - Assist with performing grass roots marketing, events and and special projects to raise the profile of the organization and the river, recruit volunteers and provide information to the public on our various programs and initiatives.
Discovery Center Intern - Work on this exciting project. Attend project design committee meetings (must be available to attend Thursday meetings). Must have some urban planning, architecture or landscape architecture education. Work with office design associate on presentation materials. Conduct research and assist with public meetings.
River Coalition Intern - Attend Coalition meetings (click here for information), take meeting notes. Help prepare for meetings, work on advancing projects on Coalition work plan. Must be able to attend the Friday afternoon Coalition meetings.
