About the Event
A perfect combination of learning and hiking! On this hike, the leader will demonstrate using the iNaturalist app, which allows all of us to contribute to the scientific body of knowledge about the types of plants and animals that live in the San Diego River Gorge. And to top it off, our destination is a beautiful, 90 foot waterfall with swimming hole. The hike is about 5 miles roundtrip, and has 1,000 feet of elevation change each way.
This hike is moderately difficult, mostly because the return trip is nearly all uphill. But the views of the River Gorge are worth it! Please come prepared by wearing sturdy, close-toed shoes and bringing at least 3 liters of water and a sack lunch. Sun protection is highly recommended.
RSVP’s are required, because we will be coordinating the required permits for all hikers.
This event is suitable for adults and chaperoned teens.
