SUMMARY:Nature Nights: Bat Walk and Moths 8/22/26
DESCRIPTION:REGISTRATION FOR THIS EVENT IS CLOSED\nJoin us for a fun evening adventure to learn about the San Diego watershed’s many bat species and their habitats with San Diego Humane Society/Project Wildlife speaker Cindy Myers. Cindy has been volunteering as a bat advocate for 24 years and will share her knowledge of our native insectivorous bats. View a quick demo on bat anatomy and learn about safety around wild mammals. Learn how you can help protect local bat populations. AND come and meet a LIVE bat ambassador up close. After our presentation we will stroll along the river\, eavesdropping on the bats we see using our bioacoustics to identify them based on their calls. As the night concludes we will view the moths that have been attracted to our UV light station for up-close observation with Hector Valtierra. An avid moth enthusiast\, when Hector isn’t out looking for moths and other insects\, he works as a microbiology and general biology professor at San Diego community colleges. He is also an avid iNaturalist user and wildlife photographer. \nAll ages are welcome! Be sure to sign up early—space is limited\, and our Nature Nights events fill up quickly.\nPlease bring a flashlight or headlamp\, a camp chair for the mothing portion\, and wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. \nConsider donating to support our bat conservation program! Follow this link to learn more—every bit of support helps us protect more bats! \nSUBMITTING THE WAIVER OF LIABILITY DOES NOT REGISTER YOU FOR THE EVENT! \n\n\n \n \n EVENT WAIVER OF LIABILITY -
