 We are looking for a candidate interested in making a difference for the San Diego River by engaging volunteers and working toward our vision of a trash-free river.  This position will assist in that goal by overseeing trash survey volunteers and interns, supervising data collection, and using that data to plan clean-ups along the San Diego River.  See full job description above to learn more and apply.

Project Manager - Trails - Full Time - $26 per hour with benefits (part-time could be considered). Remote / hybrid position.


This position is being finalized. It will be posted soon.

We are seeking a person who will work to advance key segments of the San Diego River Trail. The person needs to be able to develop community mobilization plans and work with government agencies to advocate effectively for projects and needed public funding. The position will work closely with the CEO, Board Government Projects Committee and public engagement staff. It is important that this person has presentation skills such as public speaking, creating presentation materials and being good at scheduling. They will also be involved with proposal and grant writing.

INTERNSHIPS

San Diego River Park Foundation internships are educational, fun, and great resume-builders. Interns have the opportunity to see how an environmental nonprofit organization operates on a day-to-day basis as well as to participate hands-on in real-world projects that affect change in their communities.

Unpaid internships are available across many of our programs. The opportunities are a mix of office and field work. School credit is available, if offered by your learning institution.

Clean River Program Field Intern: The Clean River Program Field Intern conducts field surveys to quantify trash along the River, helps plan removal activities, and works with volunteers to clear trash. For a complete intern description, click here.

Social Media and Marketing Intern: Are you interested in improving your social media and marketing skills? Help the San Diego River Park Foundation reach a larger audience to bring awareness to the San Diego River ecosystem and allow us to create an even bigger impact. Copywriter/Editor Intern: The Copy Writer/Editor Intern focuses on drafting, editing, writing blog articles, conducting interviews, and developing premium content consistent with the voice of the River Park Foundation. These efforts will support efforts to recruit volunteers, forward our programs, promote events and communicate to our future donors. Ecological Restoration and Monitoring Intern:
Assist with riparian and upland habitat restoration, research, and wildlife monitoring in the lower and upper sections of the San Diego River Watershed. For a complete intern description, click here.


Outdoor Education Intern: You can help connect students with nature and create the next generation of River Stewards. Responsibilities include leading youth K–12 in education programs, working with teachers, and participating at community outreach events. For a complete intern description, click here.

 

Graphic Design Intern: Help tell the story of the San Diego River Park Foundation by designing and laying out graphic communication pieces such as brochures, flyers, mailed invitations, newsletters, signage, and more. Riparian Data Mapping Intern: This is a great position for interns interested in community science and leveraging digital tools for collecting and sharing data. Interns will work in the field to gather data using a special mapping app. For a complete intern description, click here.

 

Riparian Field Survey Intern: Work with volunteers to collect valuable data on River habitat health. This is a great opportunity to get outdoors and hike along our urban River as well as to learn about environmental data management and analysis. For a complete intern description, click here.

 

Riverbed Homelessness Survey Intern: Play a key role in an innovative and intersectional partnership between environment and homeless outreach organizations in the riverbed by monitoring and mapping the presence of homeless encampments, as well as trash, stormwater debris and other types of litter found within the sensitive habitats of the San Diego River watershed as we work toward long-term solutions. RiverWatch Water Quality Program Intern: The RiverWatch intern will maintain water quality equipment and databases as well as attend monthly monitoring outings. The collected information helps us to form, and publically share, a complete picture of the health of the San Diego River. For a complete intern description, click here.

VOLUNTEER CAREER TRAINING PROGRAM

Designed for recent graduates or professionals looking to add to their resume, this training program includes mentorship and hands on field experience that allows candidates to build specific skills, strengthen their resume, and work alongside environmental professionals.

 

Geospatial Data Collection and Analysis: Develop skills in data collection and field work while collecting valuable data on River habitat health.
