Clean and Green Team
Volunteers Leading River Restoration and River Clean Up
Twice each year, volunteers survey the San Diego River during RiverBlitz to map and record trash and debris sites.
The Clean and Green Team mobilizes to coordinate volunteers to remove these trash sites! On Saturdays throughout the year, volunteers gather to help create a healthier, cleaner, safer San Diego River Park system.
Not only is this a great way to give back to the community and improve the health of the River, this is a great opportunity to learn more about the River. Team captains will guide you to discover new spots along the River during these 3-hour volunteer projects.
For dates, times, and meeting locations for upcoming clean-up events, please visit our calendar. You can also contact us at (619) 297-7380 or by email.
Each April and October, we survey about 20 miles of the River with the goal of working toward a clean and healthy river. Click here to see recent survey results.
Through our River Rescue program, community clean-ups and group projects, we work with landowners and managers to remove trash from in and along the river. You can also join this effort!
Impact: Since 2004, volunteers have removed more than 2.9 million pounds of trash from the River. Tens of thousands of people have joined others to make a difference.
