Community Impact Confirmed: Next Phase for the West Valley Crossing
Thank you! Your recent action was highly effective, successfully ensuring the Prioritization and Acceleration of the West Valley Crossing is a top-of-mind issue for regional leaders. People Power influences policy!
STRATEGIC SHIFT: LOCAL STEWARDSHIP
We successfully raised awareness for future funding. Now, our strategy shifts to deep, sustained local stewardship to reinforce the trail’s value. Learn about the One-Mile Action Crew, and join us for a ride on the river trail!
What We Achieved Together
- Political Awareness: Your calls, public comments, and social media activity put the West Valley Crossing on the radar of the SANDAG Board, City Councilmembers, and County Supervisors. Three elected officials publicly supported the project between October - December 2025.
- Project Status: The Crossing (AT052) is confirmed as a priority project in the SANDAG Regional Plan, giving us a strong advocacy foundation.
- Growing Alliance: We mobilized partners (YMCA Mission Valley, Circulate SD, Outdoor Outreach, Presidio Little League, CABO, SD Bicycle Coalition), creating a strong alliance that continues to grow.
- Trail Activation: Our volunteers proved their ongoing commitment, with over 100 volunteers stewarding the river trail October - December 2025.
Sustained Local Action: Nurturing One Mile
The next policy and funding advocacy window will be in 2026. Until then, our new local action crew will focus on deep, sustained local stewardship that reinforces the trail's value to our neighbors and community. By concentrating on the West Valley Crossing area, we Nurture One Mile to show our love for the Whole River. This visible commitment strengthens our case for final funding.
Thank you for being a vital part of connecting our trail!
