Fundraising Campaigns

Your donation can support a specific program or project

With your donation, you have the ability to focus on what matters most to you. We have listed a few of our highest priority campaigns below, however, if you don't see something of interest, please contact us. We would love to learn more about what you care about.

High Priority Campaigns

Working for a Trash-Free River

We organize 2-3 river cleanups every week, work with landowners and public agencies, and advocate for policy changes to reduce the flow of trash into the river. We believe all rivers should be pollution free. Sadly, an estimated 1 million pounds of trash enters the San Diego Riverbed each year. $25 will buy one box of trash bags. One box supports community members in removing a ton of trash!

Open Space Acquisition Fund

Wildlife depend on undeveloped privately owned properties. We focus on areas adjacent to public lands in the source waters of the river. When a property goes on the market we need to act fast to conserve these wildlife areas. For a recent successful acquisition, we used financing. We need to pay off this loan and begin to rebuild our Acquisition Fund. Learn more about our land acquisition fund.

River Studio Construction at Grant Park

We have an exciting opportunity to construct the River Studio at Grant Park. This 1,200 square foot building will be the home of our education program while adding restrooms and more! We are building this in phases as funds are raised. With your support we can keep this construction on schedule. Learn more about the River Studio Project.

Critical Research: Wildlife and River Health

Did you know that the San Diego River may have the greatest biodiversity of any place in the continental US? We focus our research on identifying threats and opportunities to at-risk and keystone species. One of the ways we do this is through our Critter Cam program - a network of remote wildlife cameras that document the presence and movement of large mammals. Other research includes testing the health of the river and uncovering the locations of non-native, invasive plants and animals.

Glennon Riverbed Cat Fund

Dedicated to late artist Stuart Glennon who was passionate and concerned about cats living in the San Diego Riverbed. Stuart was a lifelong artist who lived in Ocean Beach until he passed away in 2022. A fund has been set up in his name to help provide assistance to cats - feral, community, stray, and pets - living in the riverbed. Funds are used to document their locations and then work with the San Diego Humane Society and other organizations.

There are many ways to make a gift. In addition to making an online gift using PayPal, options include: Venmo (@sandiegoriver), sending a check by mail, calling us with your credit card information, or donating appreciated stock. Learn more about ways to give.
