Make a difference by giving in your own way

Making a donation with stock, mutual funds, qualified charitable distributions (QCDs), donor advised funds, or cryptocurrency can be a smart way to support a better future for the San Diego River, its wildlife, and our region.

With appreciated items you don't pay the capital gains and can put the full value to work! Please check with your tax or financial advisors to learn of any limitations. If you have owned the item for more than a year, you receive an immediate income tax deduction for the fair market value on the date of the transfer, no matter the original value.

Mutual Funds

We can also accept Mutual Funds! There may be a slightly different process which requires you to contact our broker so they can initiate the process. Email Pat Rice, Senior Manager for Major Giving or call 619-297-7380, to discuss the process.

IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)

Gifts made as QCDs are not considered taxable income. They are not included in your taxable income and so can provide you benefits. This giving option is made directly from your traditional IRA, inherited IRA, inactive SEP, or inactive SIMPLE IRAs.
